Early autumn is a beautiful season. It is rather warm and sunny. People call it Indian Summer. But then it is getting colder and colder. Days become shorter and nights get longer. On the 22nd of September, the day is as long as the night. The sky is usually cloudy and it often rains. Sometimes it is foggy.
Yellow, red, brown, purple and orange leaves fall down from the trees. The ground is covered with a colourful carpet of leaves. Flocks of birds fly away to warm countries. Schoolchildren come back to school after summer holidays.
In late autumn, cold northern winds bring the first frost and snow. Nature is ready for her long winter sleep.
